Landmark Buildings

In the past few weeks, there have been a few landmark buildings in the local news….

First is about the new ‘jewel’ in Fenelon Falls:

On October 19th, there was an official grand opening for the new Fenelon Falls arena, which is a multi-million dollar, state-of-the-art facility.  It is a bright, beautifully designed building that will be great for hosting everything from sports to dances.  There is a single-pad arena and a community centre that can accommodate 350 people.

This year for Fenelon Falls Santa Day, Santa’s workshop will be at this new facility.  Great chance to check this new ‘jewel’ out if you haven’t already!

The other landmark building in the news is the Academy Theatre in Lindsay….

The Academy Theatre has just started and aggressive two-month campaign to raise $50,000 called Keep the Magic Alive.  This campaign is asking 1,000 people to donate $50.  That is it.  That $50 will help to keep the lights on in the theatre instead of seeing the doors close forever.

For more on the campaign, please see this article:  http://www.mykawartha.com/community/article/1528354–academy-theatre-turns-to-community-to-save-cultural-landmark

At this time, they are almost 50% there to reaching their goal!  Please try and help them out!!
