Commemoration to Flora Agnew

Doug Brown, a long standing member of Sturgeon Point, is organizing a commemoration to Flora Agnew
In November of 2012, Sturgeon Point lost one of it’s life long resident’s and matriarch’s, Flora Agnew. During her life, Flora was a long time supporter of the Sturgeon Lake Sailing Club and her family continues that tradition today. To recognize that and give a lasting tribute to Flora, a donation site has been set up to collect funds to purchase a much needed Optimist sailboat to add to the SLSC fleet. Please help to recognize and remember this great lady by going to https://www.canadahelps.org/GivingPages/GivingPage.aspx?gpID=35353 and making a donation to help us reach our goal. Donations will be accepted until June 30, 2014 and any funds received over and above the set goal will go towards the purchase of a second boat.
Thank you all in advance for your help.

Faye Jordan departs from her recent conceptual landscapes to explore ‘the essence of floral’ in this new work. She personalizes a palette of quince greens,  petal pinks, and velvet earth browns in watercolours and acrylic on canvas.  Faye references contemporary Scottish artists Craigie Aitchison and Alison Watt in sensual, erotically suggestive imagery, while also drawing inspiration from Flemish floral paintings of the 17th century.

Located  downstairs from a flower shop, this gallery is a serendipitous location for this installation.

Road Work at Sturgeon Point March 2014

Update from Jim Milford – Roads & Maintenance

March 10, 2014

Jim met with City of Kawartha Lakes roads staff on March 10th. Irene and Lake Avenues were graded and driveways cleared of the ice from the grading. The grader winged back the ice and snow as far as possible, Irene is a bit wider now. The roads were also sanded and salted.
We have had an exceptional amount of snow this year and the plough operators are running out of places to put it all!
