We’re excited to officially launch the fundraising campaign to restore the historic Upper Wharf Rain Shelter.

Built in 1903, the Rain Shelter has been part of Sturgeon Point for more than 120 years. Restoring it will be a significant undertaking, with the complete project currently estimated at approximately $75,000.
Thanks to the generosity of our community, we’re already on our way.
Between proceeds from the Canada Day Bake Sale & Auction and pledges, we’ve raised $3,200 toward the project, providing a terrific start to the campaign.
The restoration will take place in phases:
Phase 1: New Roof – COMPLETE!
Thanks to the generosity of Andrew Dunnette and Andrew Wilson, the Rain Shelter has a new roof.
Phase 2: Foundation
The next step is to undertake the work required to provide the building with a strong and stable foundation.
Phase 3: Historic Restoration
The final phase will focus on restoring the shelter’s distinctive “gingerbread” woodwork and other historic design details.
We are now accepting pledges at [email protected].
SPA is also close to finalizing an arrangement that will allow charitable donations to the project through the Kawartha Community Foundation. Stay tuned for details on how you can contribute and help preserve this piece of Sturgeon Point history for generations to come.
