Sturgeon Point in the News

Recent activities in our small corner of the world have attracted some interest from the media. The Park in the Woods project was mentioned in both The Lindsay Post and The Promoter.

The park project is certainly deserving of attention, but Sturgeon Point isn’t just about the park. Kawartha Life thought that the SLSC’s ongoing program deserved some attention in their big summer issue, and we’ve captured that article for you too. Mid Ontario Sailing Regatta this weekend – July 25 – 26

SailingOur own Sturgeon Lake Sailing Club is hosting the 2009 Mid Ontario Championship Regatta this weekend. This is a big event that attracts a large number of participants. Sturgeon Point comes up big to host a few hundred competitors and families in our small community every year the Regatta is held here. You’ll almost certainly notice a few tents and a whole lot of young sailors out and about our community this weekend.  You’ll certainly notice an unusually large number of sailboats on the lake – its quite a sight. Let’s hope for fair winds and good weather to help make our visitors feel welcome.

Summer sailing season has arrived!

The sailing program starts up for the summer on Monday July 6 at the Sturgeon Lake Sailing Club. Hundreds of local kids have been attending the great summer sailing programs offered at the club for over 50 years, and this year’s group of instructors are busy getting everything ready for another summer of sun and sail. Geared towards youngsters between the ages of 8 to 16 years of age, sailing club runs every weekday from 8:30 to 12:30 until August 28. Head over to the SLSC web site to find out more. Highly recommended!
