Recent activities in our small corner of the world have attracted some interest from the media. The Park in the Woods project was mentioned in both The Lindsay Post and The Promoter. 

The park project is certainly deserving of attention, but Sturgeon Point isn’t just about the park. Kawartha Life thought that the SLSC’s ongoing program deserved some attention in their big summer issue, and we’ve captured that article for you too. On Saturday November 29th Hydro One representative Jack Steele presented the Sturgeon Point Association with a cheque for $5000.00 from Hydro One’s Power Play initiative. Hydro One’s contribution will be used towards a multi-purpose court in the park. The official opening of the completed project will take place on July 4th 2009.
SPA raised over $120,000 from village residents, corporate sponsers, CoKL and a variety of foundations to replace and refurbish the playground at Sturgeon Point.
On hand for the donation are, from left to right:  Jill Hunt, Greg Taylor, Jack Steele of Hydro One, Tom Anders, Lynne Manning, Maureen McKellar, CoKL Councillor Pete Cziraky, and Bob Barrett.

Join us to celebrate the opening of the new Sturgeon Point Park. Everyone’s invited. It will be a basic hot-dog barbecue with everything provided by SPA.
Memberships will be sold and more donations accepted.
