Civic Weekend is here and it is going to be a busy one!

Here is a reminder of all the activities that are happening this weekend.

Saturday

  • SLSC Regatta – open to all ages of the whole community.  All boat types and sizes can race.  Show up at the sailing club at 9:00am.
  • SPA BBQ & Street Dance – 6pm at the Park.  Fun filled evening catching up with friends and getting your groove on!

Sunday

  • Church Service – 10:30am.  Doug Norris from the Rosedale United Church will be doing the service.
  • Water Races – 2pm at the Beach.  Lots of fun.  Swimming, Canoeing, and lots of other fun events.  All ages are encouraged to participate.
  • SLSC Prize Giving – 6pm at Rose Hill.  Everyone welcome – sailors and non-sailors.  There will be homemade burgers and dessert.

Monday

  • The 174th Annual Running & Novelty Race at Swannanoa.  Lots of fun from babies to 100+.

The Church is also organizing their Annual Salvation Army Food Drive

In 2011, a new method for gathering food drive donations was introduced where bags of non-perishable food items were picked up from door steps in the community. Volunteers gathered 77 bags of food and collected $875.

Due to the success of last year’s efforts, the volunteers from the Sturgeon Point Union Church and
the Sturgeon Lake Sailing Club will once again be dropping off empty grocery bags at
your home or cottage on the August long weekend.

Kindly fill up the bag with non perishable items in
support of this year’s Food Drive.

The volunteers will be around again on Monday August 6th between 3:00-5:00pm
to pick up your filled grocery bag. Please leave your bag at your front door step or porch
for collection by Monday afternoon.

Other Drop Off Options:
Sunday August 5th, Sturgeon Point Union Church Service
Monday August 6th, Civic Weekend Running Races at Swannanoa

Donations are also gratefully accepted with
cheques made out to:

Salvation Army Food Bank

Hope everyone enjoys this fun filled weekend!
